CM's condolence to Thilakan

The who is who of Kerala political world and Malayalam tinsel town have condoled the death of veteran actor Thilakan, who passed away in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

In his condolence message, Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy hailed Thilakan as a major presence in Malayalam theatre and cinema for over five decades.

Beginning his acting career in an amateur theatre group at Mundakkayam, he had gone on to prove his acting prowess at Kerala Peoples Arts Club (KPAC), Kalidasa Kala Kendram and Changanassery Geedha. He made his mark as a film actor with Ulkkadal.

Some of his friends from his theatre days say that Thilakan was an imperious talent. ‘He never accepted authority. So he kept changing troupes. Even P.J. Antony couldnt control him,’ a former friend said.

Apart from his iconic status in Malayalam film world, the late Thilakan was equally popular in Tamil.
